Date of entry into force of environmental rules
The date for entry into force of the Establishments and Activities Decree BES (IAB BES) and the Ministrial regulation establishments and activities BES (RIA BES) has been set. The decree and the ministrial regulation shall enter into force on 1 April 2024.
The IAB BES and the RIA BES contain environmental rules for companies on Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. The IAB BES is a general administrative measure (AMvB), which further elaborates the environmental rules set out in the Act on Public Housing of Spatial Planning and Environmental Management (BES). The RIA BES sets out general rules for companies that have a slight or moderate impact on the environment through their activities.
The rules of the IAB BES and the RIA BES have been published in the Staatscourant and the Staatsblad. The IAB BES and the RIA BES enter into force on 1 April 2024.
The intention was to bring the environmental rules into force on 1 January 2024, but the Board of Bonaire asked the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management to postpone the entry into force.
